In Catholic Schools week we reflected on what it is to be rooted in Jesus Christ. In his letter to Irish Catholic’s Pope Benedict asks children and young people to root their lives in Christ -‘Seek a personal relationship with him within the communion of his Church, for he will never betray your trust!’.
Our school has its heart in the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. During Catholic schools week our school created a sacred space as a simple way to reflect on our Catholic ethos and to pray. Each day of the week pupils in our school were given the opportunity to attend mass and make their own reflections. Throughout the week we listened to the story of Saint Brigid and made St. Brigid crosses. Honouring our Grandparents who have passed on the Catholic faith to us was also a very important part of this week. We also celebrated the feast of Saint Blaise during the week and reminded ourselves of how important it is to care for others. Our Catholic schools week was completed with a special mass for the whole community of Jobstown. During the liturgy we gave thanks for the many ways schools serve our community and enable it to be rooted in Jesus Christ.
