Regional Finalists from St Thomas’ Senior N.S, were presented with an ‘Our World Irish Aid Award’ plaque today at the regional final of the 2019 Our World Irish Aid Awards at the Dublin Clocktower which saw 15 primary schools from the region compete for three of 12 places at the national final, Best Regional Newcomer, and Special Distinction Awards. Now in their 14th year, the Our World Irish Aid Awards are the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s flagship global citizenship programme for primary schools. The Awards help primary school pupils learn about the lives of children and their families in developing countries, and how Ireland and 192 other countries are working together to create a safer and fairer world and a better future for all the world’s children through the U.N. Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Pictured are special guest Dublin Football Manager Jim Gavin, Margaret Carton from Irish Aid, Teacher Jason Carroll, Michael Doorly from Concern, along with pupils Luca Burgess Bradley, Holly Donovan, Alana Cunningham and Kaylem Quinlan.
