In our final Cumann Na mBunscol match of the school year, we played and beat Scoil Chaitlín Maude. In a superb all round team performance, we won by a scoreline of 5-7 to 0-4. Our main scorers were Damian Afenkhena, Darragh Daly, Aidan Barden, Nathan Roberts Byrne, Jack Preston and Troy Fegan. We dominated the match throughout and were boosted by an excellent performance in goal by Anthony Obamwonyi. Anthony made some brilliant saves as well as kicking the ball out to his teammates accurately. In defence we had particularly strong performances from Daniel Cooper, Ali Janat Daniel and Lionel Kiala. Nathan and Jack dominated the midfield area while the hard work of Killian Mulvey Sherlock and Thomas Higgins up front allowed the other forwards to take their scoring opportunites with ease.
We finished 3rd overall in a 6 team group. Unfortunately, due to the competition starting much later because of Covid, only the group winners advance to the semi-finals. Mr. Murphy and Mr. Watson would like to say a huge thank you to all the boys for the great attitude, effort and commitment they brought to each training session and match. It made the whole experience very enjoyable and helped to create a bit of excitement and a sense of team-spirit around the school.
