We had lots of fun in Rm.5 preparing for the science fair. We ‘grew a rainbow’ using capillary action.
Capillary action is a process during which a liquid, like water, moves up something solid, like a tube, or into a material with a lot of small holes. This happens when three forces called cohesion, adhesion, and surface tension work together.
First we coloured the ends of some kitchen roll using rainbow colours.
Next we carefully dipped the ends into jars of water and waited to see what happened.
We waited and waited…….. until
We grew a rainbow!
