Reading Buddies with our Junior School
For the past few months the pupils of 4th and 5th class have welcomed the students of Senior Infants and 2nd class into their classes once a month. During their visits our pupils have been patiently teaching them how to use the comprehension strategies of Predicting, Visualising and Questioning to help them become even better readers than they already are.
The boys and girls of St. Thomas’ SNS have loved having the younger children over and on their last visit to our school presented a certificate and small treat to the Senior Infants and 2nd class as a thank you for all their hard work.
This was the first time we ran this programme between the two schools and we hope to do it again next year. Thank you to all the teachers in both schools for their participation and support and a massive thank you to all the kids for their engagement and effort – they are superstar readers!
